Monel K500 (Alloy K500 / DIN 2.4375) is a unique precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy. It masterfully marries the exceptional corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with the enhanced physical advantages of high tensile strength, extreme hardness, and remarkable fatigue resistance.

Mechanical Properties: The Age-Hardening Advantage

UNS N05500 is its mechanical performance. Compared to standard Monel 400, Monel K500 exhibits when fully age-hardened, while preserving excellent ductility and toughness across extreme temperature ranges.

Monel K500 maintains its structural integrity down to cryogenic temperatures (tough down to -400℃F / -240℃). Additionally, it possesses remarkable resistance to corrosion fatigue and cavitation erosion in high-velocity fluid networks, making it the premier choice for rotary components.

  • It showcases exceptionally low corrosion rates in high-velocity seawater, preventing the severe erosion-corrosion common in standard marine steels.
  • Sour Gas Protection (H2S): Alloy K500 is highly resistant to hydrogen sulfide cracking. Standard testing consisting of 6 days of continuous immersion in saturated H2S solutions yields zero cracking, making it a reliable choice for downhole oil patch infrastructure.
  • Resistant to non-oxidizing mineral acids, salts, alkalis, and organic acids.
